The Problem

1. 1.2 million high school students drop out every year. That's 6,000 a day!

2. 50% of Hispanic students drop out by the 8th grade.

3. Only 47% of inner city students will graduate, in the suburbs that number increases to 82%.

The Solution
Identify the Problem.
Educate students on the importance of graduating by displaying the posters from our "Don't Drop Out" poster series.

Early Detection. Identify struggling students who have frequent absences or behavior problems at any time during the year. They should receive immediate academic and social support before they lose interest in school.

Reach out to Failing Students. Most students drop out of school because of academic failure. Identify those students who are struggling and provide them with additional help, which may include after school tutoring and counseling.

Call Home. Make calls home and following up on every unverified student absence. If necessary, make home visits to families of chronically absent students.

Creating Incentives. Gives awards for improved attendance, ranging from passes to the head of the lunch line to iPods.
